Waahi Taakaro Golf Club Sponsorship packages
Want to be seen at Nelson’s most picturesque golf course where more than 14,000 rounds were played last year by green fee players and club members?
The course and its facilities are also used by other groups such as the Nelson Mountain Bike Club and Athletics Nelson, as well as for private functions.
We have a number of very reasonable packages available where you can advertise your business for the maximum exposure.
Hole sponsorship
There are a maximum of just 18 spaces available at any one time – one for each hole on the course. These are on signs installed on each tee block which also display details of each hole.
Cost for the first year is $350, which includes a professionally produced and installed sign measuring 1200mm by 200mm displaying your business name, logo and contact details. The signs are made of durable aluminium composite material. Further costs may be incurred for multiple alterations to the original supplied, but any replacement of the sign owing to damage or wear will be paid for by the club. Business type or name may be subject to Nelson City Council approval.
Cost for subsequent years is $200.
Hole numbers may be requested but are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Golf cart sponsorship
Sign writing space is available on our two golf carts for your business name, logo and contact details at a cost of $300 per cart per year.
Clubhouse sponsorship
We have limited spaces available on our large two-storied clubhouse which overlooks the public carpark and can be seen from the road.
Cost to have a 2.1m by 1.2m sign attached to the building is $300 a year. The client is responsible for supplying and paying for the sign, which must be made of durable ACM.
Maitai Masters sponsorship
The Maitai Masters is our major tournament of the year. It has been running since 1981 and is one the Nelson region’s most popular golf events. It is unique in that it is a 27-hole stroke tournament over one day which ends with a hangi. It attracts entries from all over Nelson and Marlborough, some of Nelson’s top young golfers and plenty of positive publicity. There is also a pitch of cash competition afterwards and an excellent prize table.
With around 100 people involved in either playing or running the event, there are excellent networking opportunities for sponsors.
We offer the following:
- For $250 a sponsor gets one free entry to the tournament and signage on the course and in the clubrooms as well as listed in our annual programme booklet distributed to all club members.
- For $500 a sponsor gets two free entries and the benefits listed above.
- For $750 a sponsor gets three free entries and the benefits listed above.
We are happy to negotiate terms for those sponsors who don’t require tournament entries. We also welcome contributions to prizes, food and beverages.
Competition sponsorship
There are opportunities to sponsor some of our club competitions, some of which run over multiple weeks and months. As well as providing naming rights to these events with results published weekly in the local media, they are a good way for businesses to market to individual club members. Sponsors are encourage to provide promotional material for distribution or display in our clubrooms. Sponsorship provides trophies and prizes for our competitions.
Such packages vary according to length and importance of the competition sponsored, but major ones cost up to $500 a year.
