An in-form Bryan Ramsey anchored our opening Old Hickory round of 2020 which saw the team finish a close third at Takaka.

Fresh for his recent hole-in-one and a number of good rounds, Bryan found the sun-baked Pohara course to his liking in ideal conditions on Thursday (Jan 30) in amassing 41 stableford points to lead the team's scoring. His round included a chip-in and a two. He received solid backing from Richard Pearson, Tom Kennedy (who also scored a two) and Ray Hopgood who all ended with 35 points. Non-scorers were Phil Sellers (29 points) and an out-of-sorts Peter Watson (28 points).

Waahi Taakaro's total of 146 points was just three points off Takaka's winning score of 149 points. Motueka pushed the home side close in finishing with 148 points. Tasman was fourth on 143 points followed by Greenacres (140) and Nelson (137), with Totaradale swapping the trophy for the popgun for finishing last on 134 points.

Tasman's Eric Satherley was the day's top scorer with 43 points.

The next round is at Waahi Taakaro on March 5.
