Closing day results for November 16, 2109

  • Peter Watson

Our winter season closed with an enjoyable and amusing Ambrose tournament on Saturday (Nov 16).

Among the fun and fancy dress, there was some gun golf played, with Steve Russell’s team walking away with the top prize after chalking up a nett 57.625. Next was Peter Watson’s team with 59 closely followed by Warwick King’s team on 59.33.

Other scores were Peter Green’s team (61.25), Keri Kotua team’s (62.5), Dean Goodman’s team (63), Paul Tunnicliff’s team (64) and Paul McCrae’s team (65). Five visitors, including two women (thanks Donna and Leigh), took part, while a friendly group from Amberley joined the players in the clubhouse afterwards.

Dean Goodman and Andy Isle scored the only individual twos of the day. Andy won closest to the pin on No 2 and 14, while Dean was nearest on No 11 and Jonathan Tuheke nearest on No 5.

Elton Netto took the prize for the best costume narrowly from Warwick King and Warren Carey.

A free BBQ – supplemented by seafood supplied by Lewis Wilson - went down a treat afterwards before prizegiving was held to cap off what has been a successful season with the club currently holding the Country Clubs Cup, the Old Hickory Trophy and the Ryder Cup.

Our thanks go to all those who helped out in the kitchen, bar, with raffles and cleaning up. Bring on the summer.
