Club champs update

All the semi-finalists of our NBS club champs have been found after a series of mid-week catch-up matches.

In the junior B division, top seed Warwick King proved too good for Jim McMullan 5/4 despite not being at his best. Three up at the turn, Warwick won three of the next four holes to close it out.

Mick Leggett played one of his better rounds to see off Greg Mann 4/2. Mick was three up after nine and while Greg fought hard he succumbed to a bogey by Mick at No 16.

Warwick will play Barry Rhodes in one semi while Mick will do battle with Grant Fergusson in the other.

In-form Phil Sellers is already into the final of the junior A grade after coming from behind to down Neil McLaren 3/2.  One down at the halfway mark, Phil won four of the next six holes – which included a birdie two at No 11 - to turn the match on its head. Phil will meet the winner of the semi between Mike Murphy and Bryan Ramsey.

The last four in the intermediates see top qualifier Richard Pearson pitted against Paul Tunnicliff and Geoff Halkett up against Aaron Kotua.

The senior final will be between Pete Green and Peter Watson.

With our annual Ryder Cup challenge against Nelson on Sunday November 13, the club champ finals have been shifted to Saturday November 19 to prevent player burn-out.
