Jonathan Tuheke was the biggest winner on a day which saw one competition decided and the club champs qualifiers found in each grade.

Two Doors as he is affectionately called was on song from the get-go despite the cold and wet conditions. The 14-handicapper shot a 84 off the stick from the blue tees thanks to some solid driving and slick chipping, which could have been even better but for some late stumbles, to end up as the top qualifier in the intermediate grade. Better still his net 70 was good enough to pip James Campion for the C & F Legal Stroke on countback after both posted a total of 221 for their best three of four rounds.

Jonathan also collect maximum Barkman Trophy points, boosted his chance of finishing in the top 10 of the Shootout and took out the match of the day on countback from Bryce Vincent who also carded a net 70, which meant he qualified third in the intermediate grade for the club champs.

Andy Isle's 82 was the best gross on a difficult day which also saw him finish third in the match of the day, third in the C & F Legal Stroke and third qualifier in the senior grade.

Neil McLaren took fourth from Aaron Kotua and Gareth Edwards on countback after all came in with net 75. Brendan Doyle (76) took the last Barkman point on offer.

With just five seniors competing for honours, the top three qualifiers - James, Pete Green and Andy - get byes through to the semifinals while Dean Goodman (4) will play Keri Kotua (5) for the other spot.

In the intermediate quarter-finals Jonathan will play the eighth qualifier Matthew Watkins, second seed Peter Watson will take on Geoff Halkett (7), No 3 Bryce Vincent will go up against Richard Pearson (6) and Jason Lee (4) will do battle with Aaron Kotua (5).

Graham Galt topped the junior A standings and will play Phil Sellers (8). The other matches see Brendan Doyle (2) verse another big hitter in Craig Barron (7), Mike Williams (3) pitted against Matt Tomczyk (6) and Maurice Woodhouse (4) challenge Gareth Edwards (5).

Sadly, only three junior B players completed the two necessary qualification rounds, which means Jim McMullan (2) will play Barry Rhodes (3) to see who takes on top seed Lewis Wilson in the final.

Surprisingly, no-one in the 18-hole field managed a two for the second week in a row so the kitty jackpots to next week's (Sept 21) quarter-finals.

Lloyd Moyle - with a net 39 off the front nine - was the best of a handful of 9-holers who braved the elements.
