The quarterfinalists have been found for the NBS club champs after a day which saw the form players cement their top seedings in the four grades.

In great weather for golf, most players took their third and final chance to qualify for the main dance which starts next Saturday (October 22).

Pete Green confirmed his favouritism among the four seniors by shooting the best gross of the day, a classy 75 off the blue tees, to be the leading qualifier by a whopping eight shots when counting his two best scores from Andy Isle who saved his best for last with a 77. Peter Watson (86) finished third and Keri Kotua (87) fourth after both never got it going. So Pete G will face Keri and Andy will once again play Peter W in the semis.

Richard Pearson heads the intermediate grade after an 87. Geoff Halkett came home strongly with a matching 87 to finish just one shot back in second. Aaron Kotua's 88 was good enough to secure third, while Paul Tunnicliff (88) is lurking in fourth. Dave Blake (88) will start from fifth, with Steve Russell and Jonathan Tuheke - who both didn't complete a third round - filling sixth and seventh respectively. With just seven qualifying, top seed Richard will have the bye.  Geoff will take on Jonathan, Aaron and Steve will do battle and Paul and Dave face off.

Phil Sellers made no race of the junior A division, shooting an excellent 87 to head the standings by eight shots from Mike Murphy (94). Bryan Ramsey (98) eased into third just in front of Neil McLaren (99). An unwell Ian Hanford stayed at home but still qualified fifth. Work commitments meant Warren Carey was another who relied on earlier scores to finish sixth of those who completed two rounds. That means both Phil and Mike will have byes through to the semis, while Neil will play Ian and Bryan and Warren meet in the other matches.

There will be a full round of matches in the Junior B grade after eight qualified, although just five played the third round on Saturday. Of them, Warwick King had a storming 90 to grab the number one spot from Mick Leggett who took a break. Grant Fergusson (106) did enough to claim third ahead of Garth Jameson (105). Barry Rhodes will start from fifth, with Chris Louth (110), Greg Mann and Jim McMullan (112) filling out the remaining spots. This means that Warwick will play Jim, Mick and Greg will clash, Grant and Chris will meet and Garth will battle Barry.

In the match of the day for Barkman Trophy points, Phil Sellers pipped Warwick King on countback after both shot eye-catching net 65s. They were followed by Pete Green (68), Garth Jameson (69), Andy Isle (70) and Mike Murphy (71). Paul Tunnicliff (71) took the last point on countback from Dave Blake (71).

Warwick, Pete, Paul, Geoff and Aaron all improved their Shootout standings.

Dave and Pete shared an enlarged twos kitty after it wasn't struck last week.

For those not involved in the quarterfinals or semis next week, the match of the day will be a stableford round off the blue tees. Matches tee off at 10am so please report to the starter by 9.30am so we can get everyone across the river on time.
