Garth Jameson rediscovered some form to win the third round of the Stubberfield Cup on Saturday (Feb 15).

After being in the doldrums for several months, he bounced back to win the match of the day - a net plus putts round off the white tees - on countback from Neil McLaren who pipped Mick Leggett for third after all three finished with a total of 97.

Playing off a 13 handicap, Garth posted a net 69 to go with 28 putts which was matched by Neil, while Mick carded a net 70 and 27 putts.

Next were James Campion (72+26), Aaron Kotua (73+26), Keri Kotua (69+32) and Andrew Craig (69+32).

Aaron shared the twos money with Bryan Ramsey and Aaron Rodrigues with one each.

So with one round remaining in the Stubberfield Cup there are up to 10 players still in contention for the trophy which is decided with the best three of four rounds counting.

In the box seat are James and Andrew who have the best three round score of 297. They are followed by Andy Isle (302), Neil and Keri on 303, Steve Russell (305) and Gareth Edwards (306).

Those who have played just two rounds but are still in with a chance are Aaron (192), Peter Watson (195) and Pete Green (196).

The final round is played on March 8 off the blue tees.

Paul Tunnicliff was the best of the 9-holers on Saturday, winning on countback from Paul McCrae after both totalled 21 stableford points off the back nine. Andrew Dean finished third on countback from Matthew Watkins after both recorded 20 points. Paul and Warren Green shared the twos kitty with one each.

Next Saturday (Feb 22) we play the second and final round of the Cap-it-all Trophy which is a four ball best ball with selected partners off the blue tees. The 9-holers play a net round off the front nine.
