Andrew Craig was the one singing in the rain after the second round of the Penketh Plate on a rare wet Saturday (Dec 21).

Playing the compulsory all irons round off the white tees, the 22-handicapper was the only one in the field to shoot under their handicap. His creditable net 71 was two better than Pete Green who pipped Andy Isle for second on countback after both posted net 73. The foursome of Garth Jameson, Matt Tomczyk, Roma Elkington and Aaron Kotua were next on 74 each. They were followed by James Campion (75) and Lewis Wilson (76), with Graham Galt (78) completing the top 10.

The best gross rounds were recorded by Pete (76) and James (77), which was pretty good in the conditions using just irons.

Graham and Matt shared the twos money with one each on No 2 and No 11 respectively.

So after two of the four rounds (with the best three counting which must include the all irons round), Andy leads on 144 from James (145), Lewis (146), Andrew (147) and Graham (148).

Next Saturday (Dec 28) we play the Three Club Challenge off the white tees.
