Two semi-finalists have been found for the Brebde Senior/Junior after both successful pairings recorded big wins on Saturday.

Keri Kotua and Chris Louth cruised to a 5/3 victory over Paul Tunnicliff and Steve Russell, with Keri's four birdies - included two twos - in a 79 off the stick proving decisive.

In the other match Barry Rhodes was forced to play Jason Lee and Sam Tatterton by himself after his partner Neil McLaren couldn't make it. Barry tried hard but was blown away 8/6.

The other two quarter-finals between James Campion and Lewis Wilson v Andy Isle and Mike Murphy and Geoff Halkett and Mick Leggett v Dean Goodman and Phil Sellers will be played next Saturday (April 29).

In the match of the day for those not involved in Brebde ties, Aaron Kotua continued his good form by winning the par competition off the white tees on countback from his Sloan team mate Peter Green after both finished on +1. Another Sloan player, Lewis Wilson claimed third with -1. He was followed by Lindsay Brooks (-3), with Ian Hanford and Graham Strickett making up the top six with -4 on a day when scoring was more difficult because of a course softened by lot of rain during the week.

While Keri took home the jackpot, Pete Green - whose 75 was the best gross of the day - also had a collect with a two at No 11.

There was a good turnout by the nine-holers who played a par round off the front nine. Lloyd Moyle proved a cut above the rest in winning with a +1. Noel Quinlivan took second on countback from Paul McCrae  and Graham Galt after all came in with -1. Sue Moyle (-2) was the best of the women starters.

Next Saturday is the second round of both the Barkman Trophy and Shootout.
