Lewis Wilson proved that less was best when he won the Three Club Challenge which was the final Saturday competition of the year.
With all golfers restricted to just three clubs, the veteran leftie shot a very tidy net 73 playing off a 20 handicap from the white tees to take the honours in a relaxed and fun finish to 2024.
Warren Carey also carded a 73 but was relegated to second on countback.
Chris Louth claimed third on countback from Ian Hanford after both posted 74. Ian at least had the satisfaction of taking home a decent payout after slotting the only two of the day, at No 5.
They were followed by the quartet of Peter Watson, Andy Isle, James Marsh and Pete Green who all recorded 75.
A group of six comprising Graham Galt, Neil McLaren, Jasper Broad-Kolff, Duncan Isle, Jack Denton and Roma Elkington rounded out the top half of the field with 76 apiece.
The best gross score was Pete G's 78 followed by Jasper's 80.
The lack of choice of clubs - which tested everyone's adaptability and shot making - certainly made for faster golf, with most groups finishing their rounds in under four hours which was a welcome sight.
Paul McCrae again dominated the 9-holers, shooting an excellent +4 for the front nine in the par competition, while Mike Kirkwood finished second on +1.
Next Saturday (Jan 4) we play the third round of the Burns Philp Cup, which is a stableford off the white tees starting at 9am. The 9-holers play a stableford off the back nine starting at 11am.
