The third semi-finalist of the Brebde senior/junior was found on Saturday, with Dean Goodman leading his partner Phil Sellers to an easy win.

Dean was in imperious form, recording a gross 74, his best ever score off the white tees. He went out 37 and back in 37 in the sunshine, with his back nine studded with two birdies on No 12 and 16. With Phil chipping in with a net 70, Their rivals Geoff Halkett (net 73) and Mick Leggett were always up against it, eventually succumbing 4/3 against the relentless onslaught.

Only one quarter-final between James Campion/Lewis Wilson and Andy Isle/Mike Murphy remains to be played before the semi-finals next Saturday (May 6).

In the match of the day for those not involved in the Brebde, which doubled as the second round of the Barkman Trophy and Shootout, Chris Louth prevailed on countback over Pete Green after both shot impressive net 69s. Chris's 99 off the stick just pipped Pete's 75, which was the best gross the day off the more challenging blue tees. Pete was on track for a rare par round before he bogeyed three of his last four holes. Peter Watson (net 72) was the only other golfer to play to his handicap in finishing third. Paul Tunnicliff came home in third with a net 74.

Pete and Paul shared the twos money with one apiece.

Paul McCrae topped the growing 9-hole competition with a net 35, just ahead of Graham Galt on 36. The best woman was Heather Carey (42) who just shaded Sue Moyle (43).

Next Saturday (May 6) we play the semi-finals of the Brebde, while the match of the day and 9-hole comp is a stableford off the white tees.
