Club results for 3/6/23
- 4 June 2023
- Peter Watson
The first finalists of the Brebde senior/junior have been found, with Dean Goodman and Phil Sellers combining to oust Andy Isle and Mike Murphy.
Led by Dean's impressive 76 in heavy conditions off the white tees, he and Phil never trailed. After halving the opening two holes, they won three of the next four before losing the eighth. However, back to back wins on No 9 and 10 pushed them out to four-up before Andy - who shot a 79 - gave himself and Mike brief hope by winning No 13 and 14 with pars before Phil won No 15 with a net par. They then closed out a 3/2 victory with a half at No 16.
They will play the winner of the semi-final between Jason Lee/Sam Tatterton and Keri Kotua/Chris Louth.
In the match of the day which doubled as the third round of the Barkman Trophy and MS Ford Shootout, Paul Tunnicliff shone in the winter sun with a typically tidy net 71. Andy claimed second with a 73, while Maurice Woodhouse edged Peter Green for third on countback after both came in with 76. Peter Watson was the only other player to finished under 80 with a net 77.
Among the nine-holers, Lloyd Moyle took the honours with 16 stableford points. He was followed by wife Sue on 13 points.
Despite the greens running well, no-one managed a two.
Next Saturday (June 10) we play the quarter-finals of the individual matchplay. The draw is Jonathan Tuheke v Dean Goodman, Aaron Kotua v Neil McLaren, Graham Galt v Richard Denby, Mike Murphy v Garth Jameson, Mike Savage v Peter Watson, Lewis Wilson v Peter Green, Mike Williams v Paul Tunnicliff, Keri Kotua/Lindsay Brooks v Phil Sellers.
For those not involved the match of the day will be a stableford round for both 18 and 9-holers.
