It required a countback to decide who won the fourth and final round of the Burns Philp Cup on Saturday (March 4).

Both Maurice Woodhouse and Lewis Wilson finished the stableford round off the blue tees with an excellent 40 points each, But Maurice - who was playing off a 16 handicap to Lewis's 21 - got the nod.

However, the biggest winner was Andy Isle who takes home the trophy after his best three of four scores totalled 110 points, two better than Garth Jameson (108) with Bryan Ramsey (107) a further point back in third.

Lindsay Brooks showed he had lost little of his touch after playing more bowls than golf lately by finishing in the final round in third with 38 points.

Garth - who has been recovering from a foot injury - was next on 37 points. He was followed by the trio of Bryan, Andy and Steve Turnell on 36 points each. Jim McMullan (35), Paul Tunnicliff (34) and Pete Green (33) rounded off the top ten.

Mike Williams brightened an otherwise average outing with the only two of the day.

Next Saturday (March 11) we play the fourth and final round of the Stubberfield Cup, which is a net plus putts round off the white tees.
