Club results for 6/4/24

Andrew Craig had one of those rare marvelous day on Saturday when golf seems a straightforward game.

Playing off the blue tees in the autumn sunshine, the 24-handicapper shot the lights out on the front nine with a 40, which included birdies at the difficult No 4 and on No 7 and 8, before coming home in 44 for an 84, which all added up to a sensational net 60.

Not surprisingly, he blew the rest of the field away in the match of the day which counted as the first round of both the season-long Barkman Trophy and Shootout.

A long way back in second was Andy Isle, with a pretty useful net 69. Paul Tunnicliff secured third with a tidy 71.

He was followed by Lewis Wilson (72), Bryan Ramsey (73) and Peter Green (74) and Mike Williams (74), who claimed the last Barkman point on offer for finishing seventh.

Mike scooped the twos money with the only one of the day, on No 14.

Andy's 78 was the best gross of the day, with Peter storming home with a back nine 36 for a 79.

Andrew Dean topped a good 9-hole field, with a net 33 off the front nine. Paul McCrae was second on 36.

Next Saturday (April 13) we play the first round of the Brebde senior/junior, which is a matchplay competition played on handicap off the white tees with drawn partners.
