Bradley Crabb doesn't play many club competitions because of work and other commitments but you wouldn't know it.

Arriving late with little time for a warm-up or to organise a partner for the first round of the Cap-it-all Trophy proved no hindrance to the 28-handicapper as he provided the individual highlight of the day with a fine net 66 off the white tees in balmy conditions. His 94 off the stick consisted of two 47s for the front and back nines.

Fresh from a net 68 last week, Aaron Kotua went one better on Saturday to claim second in the match of the day, shooting a 79 playing off a 12 handicap.

Three players finished with net 69, but Graham Galt took third on countback from his fellow Sloan team-mate Andrew Craig who pushed Duncan Isle down to fifth.

Next were James Campion (70) and Pete Green and Dave Huntley with 71 each. They were followed by Jim McMullan and Maurice Woodhouse on 72 apiece.

Five players - Graham, Maurice, Andy Isle, Gareth Edwards and Phil Sellers - shared the twos kitty with one each.

Four players shot under 80, with James (73) recording the best gross ahead of Pete (74) and Aaron and Peter Watson with 79s.

James and Pete lead the Cap-it-all Trophy after the first round with a combined score of 141. They are followed by Aaron and Keri Kotua (143), Graham and Bryan Ramsey (143), Peter and Dave Huntley (144) with  Andrew and Matt Tomcyzk (145) making up the top five. The second and final round - a four ball best ball off the blue tees - will be played on February 22 in tandem with Beat The Pro day. The team with the lowest total for the two rounds wins the trophy. If there is a tie, then it will be decided by the team with the lowest combined individual net score.

Ali Mawby was again in top form among the 9-holers, scoring her best ever score of 45 for the front nine for a fabulous +5 in the par competition. Warren Green pipped John Dixon for second on countback after both posted +4. Daniel Allen and David Monopoli didn't go home empty handed after both snared birdie twos.

Next Saturday (Feb 15) we play the third round of the Stubberfield Cup, which is a net plus putts round off the white tees, while the 9-holers play a stableford round off the back nine
