Rob Willems shot his second lowest score ever to comfortably win the match of the day, a par round off the white tees.
His even par 72 off the stick - a nett 61 - was notable for some brilliant putting which saw him notch five birdies, including a two.
That was good enough for a superb +9 and a two-shot margin over Steve Russell who grabbed second with +7 on a countback from Barry Rhodes.
They were followed by Maurice Woodhouse (+5), Bryan Ramsey, John McGougan and Gordon Davidson (all +4), Pat Melville and Paul Suan (+3), with Lewis Wilson (+2) rounding off the top ten.
Despite the drizzle, more than half the field played better than their handicap in the benign conditions.
There were six twos which went to Rob Willems, Paul McCrae, Steve Russell, Gordon Davidson, Paul Suan and John McGougan.
A reminder to those who want to be considered for the Ryder Cup team to play Nelson at Nelson next Sunday (Dec 9) to please get their name down on the starter's sheet or contact Gordon or our new club captain Warwick King (0275686374).
