Beware the quiet man....
Dave Blake fulfilled that proverb perfectly on Saturday (july 11) when he plotted his way to victory in the latest round of the Barkman Trophy.
Playing a bisque par requires a canny strategy and Dave got it spot on in compiling a +5 score to shade Barry Rhodes (+4) by one after a frosty start off the blue tees.
A group of six finished on +2, with Brad Crabb taking third on countback from Lewis Wilson. Next were Barkman points leader Aaron Kotua, Paul McCrae, Alan Church and Steve Turnell.
Warwick King, Lindsay Brooks, Warren Carey and Mike Murphy completed the top 12 after all finished on +1.
Lindsay Brooks and Barry Rhodes were in the money with one two each.
Dave Blake made it a double, with the best nett score in the fourth round of the Shootout. His 72 was just ahead of Warwick King who shot a 73. Lewis Wilson and Aaron Kotua followed with 74s, while brother Keri was next with 75. For a scoring average update, see the leaderboard in the clubhouse. The top 10 who have played at least eight of 12 rounds qualify for the final.
