Beware the quiet golfer.
Charlie Edgarton had slipped under the radar until Saturday (July 31) but the 25-handicapper showed that every dog has its day in shooting a fine nett 68 to win the latest round of the Barkman Trophy.
In warmer conditions on a still muddy course, he went out in an impressive 44 and back in 49 for a 93 off the white tees to win by one from the trio of Paul McCrae, Paul Tunnicliff and Lewis Wilson.
Peter Green and Mike Murphy were next with 72 each, while Dean Goodman took the last competition point.
Lewis scooped the twos money with the only one of the day.
Charlie, Paul T and Peter all improved their Shootout nett average.
Next Saturday (August 8) we continue with the Barkman Trophy and Shootout, with the match of the day being a stableford round off the white tees.
