Two pairs sit atop the leaderboard after the first round of the Cap-it-all Trophy.
On another serene autumn day, Aaron Kotua and Steve Russell combined sweetly to post a 10-under par 62 in the four ball best ball format off the blue tees. While an on-song Aaron - whose 66 was the best net of the day - did the bulk of the scoring, he received solid support from Steve (74).
Their team score was matched by work mates Brendan Doyle (70) and Paul Tunnicliff (73) who also complemented each other well in what were excellent playing conditions after early morning rain.
Three shots further back on 65 were another two pairs, with Andy Isle (68) doing most of the work in his partnership with Lewis Wilson (78), while Mike Murphy (69) received more help from his team mate Paul McCrae (72).
A further shot back on 66 but by no means out of the running were the rep pair of Keri Kotua (72) and Peter Green (74) and the veteran combo of Peter Watson (71) and Barry Rhodes (73),
Next were Chris Kenchington and Lloyd Patchett on 67. They were followed by Bryan Ramsey and Neil McLaren (71), John Dixon and Charlie Edgarton (73) and Rangi Kohe and Jim McMullan (74).
Andy and Peter W shared the lowest gross scores of the day with 78 apiece, while Paul T and Aaron K split the twos money.
Next Saturday (March 19) is the second and final round of the Cap-it-all Trophy, which is an individual net off the white tees. The winner is the team with the lowest three-score total.
