Paul Tunnicliff can thank Brendan Doyle's big shoulders for carrying him to another trophy win.

After combining impressively during the first round of the Cap-it-all Trophy for a nett 62 to share the lead, it all got a bit tougher for the second round on Saturday (March 20) when individual nett scores counted.

While Paul was having an uncharacteristically off day with a nett 79, Brendan delivered the goods with a nett 68, the equal best score of the day.

However, their final total of 209 was only just good enough to secure the silverware as Lewis Wilson and Paul McCrae came from four strokes back to finish just one shy on 210 after Lewis carded a nett 74 and Paul a 70 to go with their 66 on the first day.

Joint first round leaders Jonathan Tuheke and Dean Goodman slipped to third on 213 after Jonathan's excellent nett 69 was wasted after Dean blew out to a nett 82.

Warren Carey (72) and Steve Turnell (81) faded to fourth after recording a promising nett 63 on the first day.

In the match of the day, Barbara Kotua continued her strong recent form to take top spot on countback from Brendan Doyle after both recorded 68s. Jonathan Tuheke finished third on 69, while Paul McCrae edged out Andrew Craig and Warwick King for fourth on countback after all shot 70s.

Totaradale visitor Tui Samau was next with 71. He was followed by Warren Carey and Hamish Harvey on 72.  Andy Isle and Steve Russell with 73 apiece made up the top 10.

Five players - Steve Russell, Rangi Kohe, Lewis wilson, Paul Tunnicliff and Paul McCrae - shared the twos money.

Next Saturday (March 27) is the first round of the Brebde senior/junior which is a matchplay competition on handicap with drawn partners. Please get your name on the starting sheet on the noticeboard upstairs in the clubhouse. It would be helpful if you could report by 9am for a 9.30am tee-off to give the starter enough time to select teams and do a draw.
