The Brebde Senior/Junior finalists have been found after two hard fought semi-finals.

Played in perfect autumn weather on a freshly mowed course and with the greens running well,  there was no excuse for not playing well.

Andy Isle led the way with a 77 off the stick as he and partner Andrew Craig saw off Terry Hemi and Jim McMullan 2/1 in the matchplay pairs event. Andy's nett 69 and Andrew's nett 71 were just too good for Terry (nett 72) and Jim (nett 73) despite the extra shots they had to give.

Peter Watson was always up against it when his partner Warwick King wasn't available but he took it to the 17th hole before succumbing 2/1 to Elton Netto and Winton Griggs. Elton, with a nett 69 and some crucial long putts, was steadiness personified while Winton (nett 71) contributed at vital times. Peter (nett 70) battled hard but paid the price for a couple of bad holes early on.

The final will be played next Saturday (June 1).

Unlike last week, there was some excellent scoring in the match of the day, a stableford round off the white tees.

Jack Denton proved there is plenty of life in the old dog yet with an impressive 42 points to take first place. Paul Tunnicliff showed he remains very much a force with 40 points to claim second. Warren Carey showed a lot of bottle after a bad bout of cellulitis which required a trip to hospital earlier in the week to bounce back with 39 points to nick third place off Graham Eggers on countback.

Dean Goodman was unlucky to be the one who missed out on the prizes after also totalling 39 points.

Pat Melville backed up his win last week with 38 points and sixth. He was followed by Jason Lee and Keri Kotua who both scored 37 points, with Dave Blake and Bryce Vincent rounding off the top 10 with 36 points apiece.

There were twos aplenty, with Mike Murphy grabbing two and almost holing out to take away a $93 jackpot. Others in the money were Elton Netto, Jack Denton, Maurice Woodhouse and Steve Russell.

The Sloan team to play Takaka at Totaradale tomorrow (May 26) was named and is as follows: Keri Kotua, Andy Isle, Steve Russell, Elton Netto, Lewis Wilson and Dave Blake. Good luck guys.
