Club results for May 7, 2022

Peter Green and Lewis Wilson are the Brebde senior/junior champs after a 4/3 win in high-class final against Andy Isle and Paul McCrae.

All four played to their handicap or better off the blue tees on another perfect day for golf on a course in excellent condition, with Andy shooting 76 and Peter 77 off the stick, while Lewis recorded a 94 and Paul a 92.

Peter and Lewis were never behind after Peter parred the difficult par 3. They then went two up when Lewis parred the the seventh with a shot. After a series of halved holes Peter made a crucial downhill par putt on the uphill No 13 to preserve their lead. Lewis then chipped in for par on the next hole giving Peter free try at a birdie two which he drained to extend the lead to three. They ended it as worthy victors when Peter won No 15 with a par for a net three.

In the match of the day - an Irish stableford off the blue tees - for those not involved in the Brebde, Keri Kotua shot a sharp 78 to total 80 stableford points to head the field.

The ever-steady Lindsay Brooks claimed second on countback after he and Warwick King came home with 72 points each. Jason Lee snared fourth after chipping in at the last for 71 points.

Next were Peter Watson (69), Ian Hanford, Mick Leggett and Maurice Woodhouse on 68 each and Lloyd Patchett on 66. Bradley Brown made the top ten with 63 points.

The two Peters and Geoff Halkett shared the twos money with one each.

Next Saturday (May 14) we play the second round of the Barkman Trophy and Shootout off the white tees, while the following week (May 21) we begin the individual matchplay. Please put ypour name on the start sheet in the clubhouse for this.
