Paul McCrae proved once again what a consistent performer he is with a comfortable win in the first round of the Burns Philp Trophy on Saturday (Nov 21).

The 20.2 handicapper enjoyed the still and mild conditions, going out in 44 and back in 41 for a 85 off the stick and an impressive stableford score of 41.

It was three better than Warwick King who returned to form with 38 points.

Tom Weiss's 35 points was good for third, while Paul Tunnicliff still managed 34 points and fourth despite not being at his best. Keri Kotua headed Bryan Ramsey on countback for fifth after both finished with 33 points. Peter Watson claimed the final summer Fedex point on offer by finishing seventh on countback ahead of Andy Isle with 32 points.

There were no twos scored so it jackpots to next week.
