Club results for September 18
Mike Murphy had a double collect on Saturday (Sept 18), taking out the top prize in the match of the day and bagging the only two.
The canny 25-handicapper edged both Lindsay Brooks and Paul McCrae on countback after all three finished with nett 72s as players also jostled for position in the second round of qualifying for the club champs.
Despite the just renovated greens, scoring off the blue tees was better than last week.
Dave Blake was another to enjoy the spring sunshine in finishing fourth on countback from Warwick King after both came in with 73. Maurice Woodhouse, Peter Green, Warren Carey and Lewis Wilson were next with 74 each. Richard Pearson rounded off the top ten with a 76.
Apart from trying to make the club champs playoffs, players were also vying for C & F Legal Stroke honours, stroke divisional and Barkman Trophy points and Shootout qualification.
The best gross rounds were scored by seniors Peter Green (85) and Andy Isle (84) , while Lindsay Brooks (87) and Dave Blake (88) topped the intermediates. Paul McCrae (92) and Lewis Wilson (94 were the form Junior A players and Mike Murphy (97) and Grant Fergusson (102) headed the Junior Bs.
Next week (Sept 25) is the third and final qualifying round for the club champs and the last chance for players to enter the required two scores to be in with a hope of making the last eight in their grade. It also doubles as another Barkman and Shootout round.
