Congratulations to our club champs

Three of our four top qualifiers have lived up to their seedings and gone on to be this year's club champs.
In warm blustery Spring conditions on a rapidly firming course, Keri Kotua on Saturday (Sept 29) successfully defended his senior crown in downing Andy Isle 6/4 in the 36-hole final.
Keri , who drove it superbly all day, was simply too straight and steady for Andy. Keri, the number one qualifier, was 2-up after the first 18 holes and in the end won comfortably.
The top intermediate qualifier, Bryce Vincent, had to much power for a plucky Terry Hemi in winning 4/3. A run of five fours in the second 9 holes saw Bryce establish a handy lead after 18 and from there on it was just a matter of how long Terry could prolong the match.
Paul Tunnicliff lived up to his No 1 ranking in the Junior A grade in defeating Jonathan Tuheke 7/5. Paul built on a handy lead of 3 up after 18 to post an easy win. Jonathan didn't help himself by often being wayward off the tee.
Ian Handford broke the mould in the Junior B final played over 18 rather than 36 holes. The 5th top qualifier, he proved too good for Warren Carey in winning 4/3. The match was all square after 5 holes, but Ian quickly pulled away after that.
Congratulations to the winners and commiserations to the runners-up.
