Course closed a week for bridge installation

Waahi Taakaro Golf Course will be closed from Monday December 4 to Friday December 8 while our big new steel bridge across the Maitai River is installed.
Nelson City Council has decided to shut the whole course – including the bike and walk track and concrete ford - for the week because it wants no disruption or distraction while contractors assemble the bridge, lift it into place by cranes and then make it secure.
By all means come up to have a look but please stay behind the roped off areas for your own safety and leave your golf clubs at home.
The sooner the bridge is installed, the sooner we will be able to use it so please comply with the council order.
The golf course will also be closed this Thursday (Nov 30) from 10.30am to 3.30pm) while we host the Old Hickory inter-club vets tournament.

I think closing the entire course during the bridge installation is a sensible decision, especially because cranes and construction work can create serious safety risks. Although it may be inconvenient for golfers and walkers, a short closure is probably better than risking accidents.
