Get on board our golf shuttle

Golfers at Waahi Taakaro are a resourceful and resilient lot.

After floods last August and May washed away two permanent bridges accessing the course and then made a temporary one unusable, we were left with just a concrete ford across the Maitai River to negotiate in order to play golf.

Rather than ask people to wade or drive their own vehicles across, the club bought a trailer and loaned an SUV off a member and set up a shuttle service which operates daily during the hours the golf shop is open, currently 9am to 4pm.

We are able to take golfers and their gear, including carts, back and forth in a prompt and efficient manner. And when golfers have finished their round, they ring an old school bell situated on the riverbank opposite the shop and we come and get them.

With all of the course now back in play after the flood clean-up, the shuttle service has helped us return to near normal while we wait for the city council to build us a new and larger permanent bridge later in the year.

So if you want a unique experience check us out and then quench your thirst in the clubhouse bar afterwards.
