Jack Denton showed there is still plenty of good golf left in him with a sizzling nine holes on Thursday to win the second round of the Polly Pearce Memorial Trophy.
Playing off a 10 handicap for the front nine, the super veteran shot a net 31 in ideal conditions to head a large field. His excellent round included four pars and five bogies.
Tom Kennedy and Peter Watson tied for second after each posted net 32, with Peter's 36 off the stick the best gross of the day.
There was a three-way tie for fourth between Paul Tunnicliff, Bryan Ramsey and Michael Doyle who all carded net 34 on what was a good day for scoring.
Next were the trio of Warren Green, Barry Rhodes and Noel Shaw on 35, while a group of six comprising Paul McCrae, Jim McMullan, Roma Elkington, Mick Leggett, Chris Louth and Mark Sherlaw finished on 36.
Lloyd Moyle and Peter Watson shared the twos money after they both birdied No 2, while Peter won the hidden hole after birdieing No 9.
Next Thursday (March 19) the Golden Oldies play the fourth round of the Worley Trophy which is an Irish stableford off the front nine.
