Noel Shaw has collected his fair share of silverware over the last couple of seasons and he made an early pitch for the Worley Trophy on Thursday when he narrowly took out the second round honours.

The Golden Oldies convenor matched a net 34 with just 11 putts over the front nine for a winning total of 45 in the net plus putts format.

This was just good enough to pip Tom Weiss and Paul McCrae who also both came in with 34 but had 12 putts each.

Phil Sellers - whose 33 was the best net of the day - finished fourth after his 14 putts pushed his total out to 47.

He was followed by Graham Strickett (34 + 14), Paul Tunnicliff (34 + 15), Barry Rhodes (35 + 15), Brian Clinton (37 + 13) and Maurice Woodhouse (36 + 16) with Ray Hopgood (37 + 15) completing the top ten.

Phil Sellers and Roger Wilson shared the twos money with one each, while the hidden hole was not struck.

The Worley trophy is played monthly throughout the year with the format changing each time.

Next week (Feb 23) the Golden Oldies play the first round of the Polly Pearce Memorial Trophy, which is a net round off the front nine.
