Jim McMullan entered the mix for the Polly Pearce Memorial Trophy by winning the third round on Wednesday (April 24).

Playing off a 10 handicap for the front nine, Jim posted a handy net 34 to take match of the day honours on another glorious autumn day.

It was just good enough to hold off Tom Kennedy who came in with a 35.

Sharing third were Michael Doyle and Paul McCrae on 36 apiece. They were followed by a group of five comprising Richard Pearson, Gordon Combe, Noel Shaw, Andrew Dean and Ali Mawby on 37.

Paul Tunnicliff and Ray Hopgood with 38 each completed the top echelon.

Richard went home a bit wealthier after recording the only two of the day, on No 2..The hidden hole was not struck.

Next Thursday (May 2) the Golden Oldies play an Irish stableford off the back nine.
