Putt for dough is an old golf adage which Jim McMullan demonstrated still has some truth after winning the Golden Oldies match of the day on Thursday (May 30..
Playing a net plus putts competition off the front nine, Jim didn't have the best net but he more than made up for it on the greens.
His solid net 34 plus just 13 putts total of 47 took out the honours on yet another good late autumn day for golf.
Tom Kennedy (35+13) almost matched him but had to settle for second with a total of 48.
There was a three-way tie for third between Heather Carey (33+16), Paul Tunnicliff (34+15) and Richard Pearson (37+12) who all recorded 50.
They were followed by Jon Dixon (36+14) and Michael Doyle (36+15).
No-one managed a two in the benign conditions and the hidden hole was not struck.
