Grant Fergusson's good touch around the greens saw him win the latest match of the day on Thursday.
The club's new vice president took just 13 putts to go with a steady net 37 on the front nine to head a good field on a breezy but fine day.
His total of 50 in the net plus putts format was two better than Andrew Dean (38+14) who claimed second place just ahead of the trio of Roma Elkington (38+15), Neil Howard (38+25) and Paul Tunnicliff (39+14) who shared third.
Grant had the added bonus of scoring a two. He shared the spoils with Bryan Ramsey who also grabbed one.
Next Thursday (Oct 13) is the third and final round of the Laurie Ashby Trophy, which will be a stableford round off the front nine.
