As a farmer, Jack Denton is used to bossing the flock.

But on Thursday he had the company of Terry Kelso as both shot net 34 off the back nine to share the limelight and the lead in the fourth round of the Polly Pearce Memorial Trophy.

John Dixon and Noel Shaw also enjoyed the calm and sunny conditions to finish with 35 each for joint third.

Paul Tunnicliff and Paul McCrae, with 36 apiece, were the only other golfers to play to their handicaps.

They were followed by Brian Clinton and Andrew Dean on 37, while Barry Mitchell and Ivan Guy completed the top ten with 38.

Surprisingly, there were no twos scored by the 33-strong field so it jackpots to next week when the fifth round of the Worley Trophy, a stableford off the back nine, is played.
