Ho hum from Old Hickory team

Our Old Hickory team had a ho hum day at Motueka on Thursday (April 4) but at least was able to get rid of the popgun.

We finished a disappointing fifth on 122 points, far behind the home team who won on countback from Nelson after both finished with 136 points.

Our skipper Ian Hanford led the way on 35 stablefords but - apart from 31 each from Mick Leggett and Phil Sellers - lacked support. Our other counting score was 25 from Bryan Ramsey, while Richard Pearson could only manage 24 and Warren Carey (14) had a shocker.

Motueka  was boosted by 40 points from Roger Hall, who was the individual top scorer of the day, while Robin Knight's 37 almost won it for Nelson. They were among just four golfers to play to or above their handicap.

Takaka came a close third on 134. Next were Totaradale (129), Waahi Taakaro (122) and Greenacres (121), while Tasman (119) took over possession of the popgun.

Elton Netto, Dennis Hall and Darren Quick shared the twos spoils with one each, while Dennis was nearest the pin on No 4.

The next round is at Nelson on May 2.
