Kennedy stars in Old Hickory second

Tom Kennedy played a blinder to almost pull our Old Hickory team to a surprise win at Tasman on Thursday (Nov 4).

The 29 handicapper amassed a staggering 48 stableford points in shooting 85 off the stick in breezy conditions on the hilly course that so often catches visiting players out. For good measure, his score was the best of the day and included a two.

However, his heroics weren't quite good enough to prevent the home club from winning by three points from Waahi Taakaro.

Tom received good support from Ian Hanford (37 stableford), while our other counting scores were from Brian Rhodes (33) and Graham Strickett (30). Richard Pearson and Phil Sellers both finished with 29 points.

Tasman's team total of 151 couldn't be beaten, with Waahi Taakaro finishing second on 148.

Nelson took home the popgun with 124 points.

The next round is on December 2 at Waahi Taakaro.
