Mike's ace highlights creditable finish at Country Clubs

We finished a creditable third at this year's Country Clubs at Tasman.

The home team took full advantage of their local knowledge to easily win the two-day tournament played on October 27 and 28. 

Tasman amassed 27 points out of a possible 32 points in the matchplay pairs event  to waltz to victory. Golden Downs claimed second with 18 points, one ahead of Waahi Taakaro. It was a decent effort from our team, which were defending champions.

No one pair stood out with most either winning one or two of their four matches, although Mike Murphy provided the individual highlight with a hole-in-one at the par 3 No 4. Using a hybrid, the 23-handicapper hit a little draw which bounced just a few times before finding the hole situated at the back of the green, much to everyone's delight. Earlier in the day he had birdied the same hole by nailing a long putt.
