Our Old Hickory team found the Takaka golf course more to its liking with a solid second place in the latest round of the inter-club competition played on May 4.

Led by 38 stableford points from both Pat Melville and Elton Netto, the team recorded a total of 146 points to head the pack chasing the eventual winners Tasman, who finished seven points ahead.

Bryan Ramsey (36 points) and Alan Muir (34 points) were the other counting scores on what was a perfect day for golf, while Paul Tunnicliff (29 points) and Rod Thomason (29 points) had their struggles.

It was a vast improvement on the team's performance last month at Greenacres, where we finished bottom.

The next round is at Tasman on June 7.
