Old Hickory team does it tough in Takaka

The scoring for the latest round of the Old Hickory on Thursday (Nov 12) didn't match the fine weather as most teams struggled to get to grips with a Takaka course where the rough was higher than normal.

The exception was the home team who eased to a comfortable win led by 35 stableford points from Rob Dyce.

Our boys found the going very tough with Bryan Ramsey topping the scoring with 30 points. Other scorers were Ian Hanford and Barry Rhodes with 29 and Rob Shand with 28. Non scorers were Phil Sellers (26) and Richard Pearson (24).

Our team score of 116 points would normally qualify for the popgun but that dubious honour went to Nelson with an abysmal 111 points.

Takaka's team score of 133 was six better than Motueka and Tasman who tied for second on 127 points. Next were Totaradale (117), Waahi Taakaro and Greenacres (116) and Nelson in last place.

George Jameson's 39 points was top score of the day. R Paul scored the only two of the day.
