Our Old Hickory battled to fourth place in the latest round of the inter-club competition held on Thursday (June 1).

On a sodden Motueka course, our team found the going tough but Barry Rhodes with 33 stableford points and Mick Leggett with 31 points ensured that we finished with an acceptable 118 points.

Our other scorers were Phil Sellers (29) and Lloyd Moyle (25), while Richard Pearson and Bryan Ramsey endured horror days with 20 points each. Bryan at least had the consolation of scoring a two and getting closest to the pin.

Unsurprisingly, the home team came out on top with 137 points, although they were pushed hard by Nelson (135). Totaradale finished third on 126 points.

We pipped Greenacres (117) for fourth. Takaka was next on 113 points, while Tasman took away the popgun with a woeful 98 points.

The next round is at Nelson on July 6.
