Old Hickory team finishes second

Our Old Hickory team finished a solid second at Greenacres on Thursday (July 2) in the return of the inter-club competition after the Covid-19 lockdown.

Despite good conditions scoring was generally high, with only the host team scoring more than an average 36 stableford points per player. Just five players from a field of 50 players scored 36 or more points, with the top score being 40.

In the end Greenacres made no race of it, winning by 10 points from Waahi Taakaro. Tasman took away the popgun for finishing last.

We were well led by Richard Pearson with 37 points. He received good support from Ray Hopgood and Rob Shand with 34 points each, while Phil Sellers chipped in with 33 points for a team score of 138. Non scorers were Peter Watson (29) and Bryan Ramsey (27).

Rob Shand was one of only two players to score a two, winning himself a handful of balls.

The final points table was Greenacres (148), Waahi Taakaro (138), Motueka (134), Nelson (126), Takaka (124), Totaradale (116) and Tasman (114).

The next round is at Tasman on August 6.
