Who wins the Club of the Year Trophy will go down to the wire with Totaradale and Waahi Taakaro separated by just one point with one round of the Old Hickory competition to go.

Totaradale edged ahead of Waahi Taakaro after performing better in the latest round  held at Takaka on Thursday (Nov 20).

While the home team won the monthly honours from Motueka and Tasman, Totaradale by finishing fourth did enough to overturn Waahi Taakaro's narrow seven-point lead to head into the final round at Greenacres on December 4 a single point ahead in the Club of the Year race.

Our team finished fifth on the day, with Lloyd Moyle leading the way with 34 stableford points followed by Graham Eggers with 33. Our other counting scores were Dave Huntley (30) and Mick Leggett (27). Phil Sellers (26) and Barry Rhodes (18) found the going more difficult.

Takaka - led by 38 each from Warwick Dobbie and David Jerram which were the best individual scores  - won with a four-best score of 139. Motueka finished second on 135, with both Mike Hay and Mike Malone posting 35 points.

John O'Neill and Eric Satherley also totalled 35 apiece to lead Tasman to third on 133.

Tasman was  followed by Totaradale (129), Waahi Taakaro (124) and Greenacres (119), with Nelson taking home the popgun with a paltry 112 points.

In the Club of the Year standings - where all six individual scores count - Totaradale (1327) holds the narrowest of leads over Waahi Taakaro (1326) with these two clubs likely to fight it out for the trophy. It would take a huge turnaround for third-placed Tasman (1304) to get in the mix. Motueka holds fourth on 1295 and is followed by Takaka (1268),  Nelson (1252) with Greenacres lagging in last on 1217.
