Our Old Hickory team went from almost-zeros to heroes at Nelson on Thursday (Oct 1).

After finishing last and second last in the last two rounds, a re-fashioned team turned up trumps, securing a one-shot victory over Motueka on a day when the wind wasn't too much of a factor to contend with on the links course.

We were well led by Barry Rhodes, who shot one of the best rounds of the day en route to 39 stableford points. He received good support from Paul Tunnicliff (37) and Maurice Woodhouse (36), while Warwick King chipped in with 33 points for a team score of 145. Phil Sellers and Ray Hopgood both ended with 31 points.

Waahi Taakaro's total of 145 was just enough to pip Motueka on 144. Third was Greenacres on 140. Nelson finished a disappointing fourth on 139 on their home track. Next were Totaradale (135) and Tasman (134). Takaka took home the popgun after totalling 128 points.

There was only one two scored and the highest individual score went to Roger Hall with 41 points.
