Our blokes to the fore at district vets

Waahi Taakaro players took advantage of local knowledge to dominate the latest round of the district vets on Monday (Sept 3).

A good sized field of 52 teed off in threatening conditions at Waahi Taakaro, however the rain stayed away until most of the players had finished.

Phil Sellers claimed top honours in the men's competition with an impressive 40 stableford points, while fellow club man and vets organiser Richard Pearson shrugged off his responsibilities to finish second with 39 points on countback from Greenacres's Neville Satherley. They were followed by Jack Denton (38),  Denis Blomquist (38) ,Eric Satherley,Tasman (37), Paul Tunnicliff  (37), Doug Hattersley, Tasman (36), Robert Murray, Greenacres (35) and John Shaw (34).

Joyce Wast, Greenacres, with 32 stableford points headed the ladies competition followed by Marg Orman, Totaradale (32), Korin Black, Nelson (31) and Helen White, Totaradale (28).
