Our Sloan team continued its late season resurgence with a crushing win over Murchison at Motueka on Sunday (July 4).

The 7.5 to 1.5 victory – our second in a row – saw us climb to sixth on the points ladder with two rounds remaining.

Andrew Craig started the ball rolling with an easy 6/4 win, although his fellow junior Lewis Wilson had an off day in going down 5/3.

In the intermediate division, Steve Russell had to settle for a half after surrendering the lead on his final hole, while Peter Green had a comfortable 5/3 win to get our noses in front.

The victory was iced by our seniors, with Keri Kotua thrashing his opponent 8/6 and Andy Isle cruising to a 5/4 win.

In other results, Totaradale accounted for Tasman 7-2, Greenacres dealt to Nelson 8-1 and Golden Downs saw off Takaka 7.5-1.5.

After six rounds, Motueka still holds a comfortable lead on 48.5 points from Golden Downs (40), Totaradale (36) and Greenacres (34.5). They are followed by Takaka (25), Waahi Taakaro (22.5), Murchison (19), Tasman (17) and winless Nelson (9.5).

The next round is at Nelson on July 25 when we play Takaka.
