Our Sloan team dragged itself off the bottom of the table with a hard fought draw against  perennial competition favourite Motueka at Golden Downs on Sunday (March 3).

At No 1 Keri Kotua led the way with an excellent 3/2 win over Mike Inwood, with  Keri playing his final nine holes at even par to shut down an attempted comeback by Mike.

He was well backed up by Peter Watson who ground out a 3/1 win in the heat. Peter drove the ball well but spoiled a good round with some putting lapses.

Steve Russell succumbed 1 down to an opponent who played under his handicap, while fellow intermediate Elton Netto battled to a half.

Jonathan Tuheke lost 3/2, while Lewis Wilson earned a half in a see-sawing tussle.

Both teams earned 4 points each.

In other results, Takaka thrashed Tasman 7 1/2 to 1 1/2 and Greenacres did the same to Totaradale, while Murchison surprised Nelson 6 1/2 to 2 1/2 .

The points table after two rounds is : Greenacres 14 1/2, Motueka 10 1/2 , Takaka 10, Nelson 9, Golden Downs 8, Murchison 6 1/2, Waahi Taakaro 5, Totoradale and Tasman 3 1/2 each.
