Our Sloan team has ground out another good win to move into fourth place with two rounds to play.

We overcame Nelson 4 ½ to 1 ½ at Greenacres on Sunday (June 24) in changeable conditions, although it was tighter than the final score indicated, with two matches decided on the last hole. Dean Goodman grabbed a 1 up win at the last, while Keri Kotua snatched a half at the death.

``Postman" Pat Melville delivered yet again with 1 up win to maintain his unbeaten record this season (3 wins and 3 halves), while Elton Netto carried on his excellent club form from the day before to canter to a 5/3 win. Rob Willems bounced back strongly after a slow start to surge to a 3/2 win, dropping only one shot after his first three holes in shooting an impressive 77.

Steve Russell came back to earth with a thud, struggling to a 2/1 loss.

The win lifts lifts us up into fourth with 29 points, well behind leaders Motueka who have 40.5 points but have the bye next round. Tasman slip to second after losing to Motueka, while Totaradale hold third.

We next play Takaka at Motueka on July 15.
