Third finish for Old Hickory team

Elton Netto led our Old Hickory team to a satisfactory third place in the latest round of the inter-club competition played at Totaradale on Thursday (July 4).

With a top score of the day of 41 stableford points, our stand-in captain used his previous experience at Totaradale to help the team to a competitive score on a cold but still winter's day.

Elton received solid support from Phil Sellers and Peter Watson who both collected 34 points, with Richard Pearson adding another 32 points to our total of 141. Paul Tunnicliff was just off the pace on 31 points, while Pat Melville had a shocker in recording just 20 points.

Despite heavy rain the day before, the course was in good conditions with the fast greens proving a handful for many golfers, with just three twos recorded. They went to R Murray, B Riordan and J Frater.

Unsurprisingly home team Totaradale coped the best, with their winning total of 147 points five better than Greenacres on 142. Waahi Taakaro was followed by Motueka on 140, Takaka  134 and Tasman 133. The popgun went to Nelson who finished on 131 points.

The next round is at Greenacres on August 1.
