Waahi Taakaro dominates mixed vets

Warren Green shot his best ever competition score to win the mixed vets comeptition at Waahi Taakaro on Monday (Oct 15).

The 32-handicapper posted a 96 off the stick in sunny conditions on his home course for an impressive 44 stableford points to head off fellow Waahi Taakaro players Elton Netto (43) and Ray Hopgood (41) among the 18-hole competitors. They were followed by John McGougan (Waahi Taakaro) and Richard Deighton (Motueka) on 39 points, Tom Kennedy (Waahi Taakaro) on 37 points and the trio of Ted Martin (Totaradale), Robin Knight (Nelson) and Brian Murray (Greenacres) on 36 points. Another Waahi Taakaro player Phil Sellers rounded out the top 10 with 35 points.

Paula McDiarmid (Nelson) headed the 9-hole ladies with 14 points, while Sue Paine (Totaradale) was also in the prizes with 11 points. Nelson's Ken Howden with 16 points was the best of the 9-hole men.

John McGougan and Chris Ruddlesden (Greenacres) scored the only twos of the day.
