Our Sloan team has won its first win of the season to keep its title hopes alive.

After two draws and a loss, our boys grabbed a crucial win against Greenacres in a fourth round match played at Takaka on Sunday, May 6.

With the match tied up at 2-all, our seniors got us home with Rob Willems winning 4/3 and Keri Kotua 2/1.

Other wins were secured by Elton Netto, 2 up, and Pal Melville, 1 up., while Jonathan Tuheke lost 2/1 and Aaron Kotua went down by 3/1.

With 13 points, we still trail the leaders Totaradale (25 points), Tasman (24 points) and Motueka (23.5 points), but unlike us they have yet to have a bye so there is time to close the gap. However, it will require an almost unbeaten run over the remaining five rounds to win the trophy.

The next round is at Totaradale on May 27.
