High river flow prevented access onto the course to play the NBS club champs quarterfinals on Saturday (Sept 23), but some golfers still had smiles on their dials.

Defending champion Mick Leggett was confirmed the winner of the C&F Legal Stroke despite only playing the minimum three rounds in the net competition.

With the best three of four counting, no-one could get close to Mick's total of 213. The 30-handicapper started with a 73, then blazed a 68 before finishing with a 72.

Club captain Pete Green finished second on 219, with Jack Denton claiming third on countback from Jason Lee after both totalled 222. Mike Savage (224) and Jonathan Tuheke (226) were next.

The Strokeplay champs - decided by the top qualifier for the club champs in each grade - have also been confirmed.

Pete Green topped the seniors on 157 (best two of three gross rounds), with James Campion second on 160.

Jason Lee (174) took Intermediate honours from Jonathan Tuheke (176).

Mike Williams (185) edged Jack Denton (186) in the Junior A grade, while Mike Savage (196) prevailed over Warren Carey (200) in the Junior Bs.

Next Saturday (Sept 30) we play the 11th round of both the Barkman Trophy and the MS Ford Shootout, but players also have the option of playing their club champs quarterfinals on that day. All competitions are off the blue tees. So they don't miss out, the quarterfinalists can enter a Barkman/Shootout net score if they putt out.
